Hexhammer in a Spacesuit

A design done for a comic book character. The suit seems to have survived all the way to the published book!

HANSEN DUNEBUGGY

Here's another from Reconcilers Land. The heroes' moon buggy complete with bubble tires, guns, roll cage and good ol' lunar heroism. This was a quick sketch so no finish on this one....

GO GO LUNAR LOGO

Another satisfying design and I’ll tell you why. “Hansen Engineering”, a fictional company of the Reconcilers comic book, needed a logo iconic enough for towers, trucks, shirts and shippers. It’s a mining outfit, so I made the negative-space engineering “E” resemble a drill-bit being driven by the positive-space “H”! As a designer, it was kind of a “FedEx Arrow” moment. Heehee.

THE 4-WHEELER OF THE APOCALYPSE

This was one of my favorite pieces done for the Reconcilers project. There was a clear idea of what this thing should be: a sort of futuristic Mad Max-esque vehicle, jerryrigged, armed to the hilt, and driven by some vengeful badasses. I imagined that you could put this together with existing car-nology, excepting some Powerplant from Tomorrow. This idea came out in one shot, cuz… we had our Wheaties that day. Or, rather, our beets.

HEX'S HAMMER

Sometimes, what looks perfect in the mind’s eye doesn’t work for the real eye. Case in point: the comic book’s hero, Sean Hexhammer, has this signature weapon, see. It’s a hexagonal hammer. Why, you say? Because it’s comics and you can do that. Anyhow, we were going for a hexagonal silhouette, but it looked too much like a mace, and his name’s not Sean Mace, is it? Alright then. So we came up with a more hammery hammer instead.
